Cards

31 cards

Each card is checked by the OpenEduCat team before it is listed. Nothing on this page runs on AI or needs a key.

Pass the word

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededLanguage, Social

Whisper a word to the child beside you. It passes round the circle. Say out loud what reached the end and compare.

Steps

  1. The teacher whispers a short word or phrase to one child.
  2. Each child whispers what they heard to the next.
  3. The last child says it out loud; compare it with the start.

Variations

  • Use a short sentence.
  • Pass a clap rhythm instead of words.

Odd one out

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededLanguage, Number

Say four words where one does not belong, such as apple, banana, chair, pear. Children say which word is odd and why.

Story chain

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededLanguage

Build a story together, one sentence each round the circle.

Fizz on five

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededNumber

Count round the circle. Every multiple of five is said as “fizz” instead of the number.

I went to the market

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededLanguage

A memory game: each child repeats the list so far and adds one item. “I went to the market and bought apples, a hat…”

Mirror partners

Ages 6 to 85 minNothing neededMovement, Social

Pairs face each other across the circle. One moves slowly and the other copies like a mirror.

Would you rather

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededSocial, Language

Ask a would you rather question. Children move to the left or right of the circle and one from each side says why.

Add one more

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededNumber

The first child says a number. Each child round the circle adds a fixed number, such as two, and says the total.

Category clap

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededLanguage

Keep a clap rhythm going. On each beat a child names one thing in the category, such as fruits, without repeating.

Compliment circle

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededSocial

Each child says something kind and true about the child on their left.

Silent line-up

Ages 6 to 810 minNothing neededSocial, Number

Ages 6 to 810 minClassroom objectsSocial, Language

Toss a soft ball across the circle. The catcher answers a question, then asks one as they throw it on.

Questions teachers ask

Who writes the cards?

The OpenEduCat team writes the cards and checks each one before it is listed. Nothing on this page runs on AI.

Do I need an account to print?

Yes. Every card is here to read, and printing a card or a week needs a free teacher account. Sign in once on each device.

Can I show an activity on the board?

Yes. Add Today's activity from More widgets on the board. It shows one card from this deck each day and carries the deck with it, so it keeps working when the connection drops.

What do the materials mean?

None needs nothing at all. Paper needs a sheet or a strip each. Classroom objects uses things every room has, such as chairs, books or pencils. Outdoors needs space outside.
