AI Homework Helper for Students
Jamal is stuck on a chemistry stoichiometry problem at 9 PM. His teacher is not available. He works from the hint sheet his teacher made for the question, which asks him what the question is really asking, what he knows, and what to try first. He works through the method himself. He did not get a copied answer. He got a tutor.
The AI Homework Helper is one of the AI generators of OpenEduCat Tools. It gives hints, not answers.
This page fills in a draft from a template. Copy prompt gives you the prompt for any AI chat.
How it works
From question to understanding, step by step, without giving away the answer.
AI breaks it down step by step
Instead of giving the answer, the AI identifies the concept behind the question and walks the student through the reasoning process. For a quadratic equation, it might say: "This is a factoring problem. What two numbers multiply to 12 and add to 7?" The student works through each step with guided prompts.
What to do if the student is stuck
If the student cannot move forward, the next hint the AI wrote is more direct, but still stops short of the answer. It also points them to a similar example in their notes. The goal is understanding, not completion.
This is not ChatGPT for homework
When students paste homework into ChatGPT, they get a complete answer in seconds. They copy it, submit it, and learn nothing. The teacher has no idea it happened.
This homework helper works differently by design:
Hints, not answers
The AI asks guiding questions and provides scaffolding. It never writes the full solution.
The sheet sends students back to their own notes and what they learned in class.
What it can do
Built for learning, not for shortcuts.
Step-by-step explanations
The AI breaks problems into smaller pieces. A chemistry stoichiometry question becomes: identify the balanced equation, find the mole ratio, convert grams to moles, apply the ratio. Step 4 asks the student to do only the first step, then check that it makes sense.
Multi-subject support
Math, science, English, history and social studies, and other subjects. The AI handles algebraic equations, essay outlines, lab report structure, historical analysis prompts, and vocabulary practice.
What the sheet leaves out
The sheet works on the one question the teacher enters. It gives no answers and writes no essays.
Ask about the exact place a student got stuck
Ms. Patel teaches 10th-grade chemistry. Several students write down that they got stuck on the same problem type.
She schedules a 20-minute review session on mole conversions. Their questions told the teacher where to focus instruction time.
Example: A hint sheet for one question
A 10th-grader working on a chemistry homework problem.
How many grams of CO2 are produced when 10g of C3H8 burns completely?
Good question! Homework hints for this question: read it again and say it in your own words. Let's work through it step by step.
That's right!
The sheet continues step by step until the student reaches the answer on their own, or asks the teacher.

Questions teachers ask
Does the AI give students the answers to their homework?
No. The AI is specifically designed to provide hints, guiding questions, and step-by-step scaffolding, not direct answers. It asks the student to work through each step, and to ask the teacher if still stuck.
How is this different from students just using ChatGPT?
Two major differences. First, this homework helper gives hints instead of answers (ChatGPT will write the entire solution. Second, the teacher makes the sheet, and it sends the student back to their own notes and what they learned in class. ChatGPT is a black box) the teacher does not see what it said.
Which subjects does it support?
The form offers Mathematics, Science, English, History and social studies, and Another subject. The AI adjusts its approach based on the subject, math problems get step-by-step hints while essay questions get structural guidance and prompting questions.
Can teachers control what the AI helps with?
Yes. Teachers decide which questions to make sheets for; students have no access to the tool. If a teacher wants students to figure out essay structure on their own but allows help with grammar, they simply make a sheet only for the grammar question. For a take-home exam, the teacher simply does not hand out a sheet.
Is student data safe?
This tool keeps no student data. The template draft is built on your device, and nothing is saved. With Improve with AI, your notes go straight to the provider on your own key, never to OpenEduCat. Leave student names out of what you type.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
The page works in a phone or tablet browser for a signed-in teacher. Students do not hold accounts here, so there is no student portal, and there is no photo upload. You type the question.
