AI Report Card Comments Generator for Special Education

Special education report card comments must do something that standard comments cannot: assess a student against their individual goals rather than grade-level curriculum benchmarks. A comment that compares an IEP student to their peers is not just unhelpful, it is ethically wrong. Choose Special education under Learners and type a strength and a next step, and the AI Report Card Comments Generator gives you a draft to adapt, in person-first language where you edit it to be.

How SENCO teachers and special education coordinators Use It

Ways to use the drafts.

A SENCO coordinator starts comments for a full caseload

A coordinator manages IEPs for 22 students. She chooses Special education, types a strength and a next step from her notes, and adapts each draft to the student's goals. The tool does not read the IEP, so she checks every comment against it.

Writing a comment for a student with autism that reflects their specific strengths

A specialist teacher has a Grade 4 student with strengths in pattern recognition. She types that strength first, so the draft opens with what the student can do rather than a comparison with peers, and writes the next step as a skill being built.

A student with several support plans

A resource room teacher has a student with goals across literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning. With Improve with AI on, she asks in her notes for one coherent comment, not a list of goals, and edits the result.

Questions teachers ask

Does the draft use person-first language?

Check each comment for it. Person-first language (a student who has dyslexia, not a dyslexic student) is your choice to keep as you edit.

Can the AI reference specific IEP goals from the student record in OpenEduCat?

No. The tool reads no student records and connects to no IEP. If a goal belongs in the comment, type it as the next step without the student's name, and check the wording against the IEP.

How does the tool handle the legal requirement for accurate IEP progress documentation?

The tool does not read IEP records. All comments are read and checked by the teacher before they go in the report, the AI drafts, you certify.

Can comments be generated in languages other than English for multilingual SPED families?

Not from this tool. The comments come out in English. Get them translated the way your school provides for families, and have someone who reads the language check them.

Can I use SENCO mode for students on 504 plans as well as IEPs?

This tool has no SENCO mode. Choose Special education under Learners for a student on an IEP or a 504 plan, then edit the comment yourself so that it names the real support in place.
